Excellent authentic Mexican food. I always get stake tacos, gorditas or chicken soup. Probably chicken soup its my favorite plate by far.
I am from Mexico and it's hard for me to find the really authentic food, this is by far the most authentic, great food... I know prices are little bit higher then most of other mexican places but I completely understand that, it's more the just cooking the food but the time, love and quality that they have on this place, I prefer to paid an extra dollar but get exactly what I expect, my wife's from Memphis also my n laws... I invited them to try this place and they notice the difference from all around places, this is Mexican Restaurant not a Tex Mex. Thank you guys for your service and keep it up
Los Comales is the third Mexican restaurant to enter this space since I have lived in the neighborhood (8 years). There are many well established Mexican places nearby, and each one has their own following, making it an uphill battle for new establishments in this location. Upon visiting, the new management has renovated this location very nicely. The space has opened up, and there is a full bar with seating. The menu is authentic, but fairly standard. The biggest difference is the price. Compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area it is 25% more expensive. On Sunday, we visited a well established Mexican eatery, and ordered four steak chimichanga meals & a small guacamole, with tip it was $43. At Los Comales, the same exact order was $63. What did we receive for the premium price? Less meat, as the chimichangas were stuffed with beans, as well as the meat. Chips that were burnt, and guacamole that seriously needed lemon, and salt. I do not publish these type of reviews, but I felt others should be forewarned before trying out the newest place in the neighborhood. As a quiet place for drinks this may be your spot. For a family of four, stopping for an affordable Mexican night out, this is not it.
